Theo Paxstone promo pamphlet

Theo Paxstone and the Dragon of Adyron
Ta-rah, a dramatic cover!

Part of writing a book is promoting it.

A big, big part.

If you thought editing was a challenge, just wait!

These are the first two pages of my Theo Paxstone promotion package. It was meant to capture the interest of book sellers, agents and publishers.

Did it work? Eh. Not as much as I would have liked, let's say that. So take from it what you will.

Indie publishing is a very crowded market, and it's harder than ever to get noticed. That's a natural consequence of the ease of self-publishing. Add AI into the mix, and people working diligently to game the Kindle system, and indie authors have their work cut out for them.

It's not a road for the faint of heart.

More later.

Dragon attack!

dragon attack

Out of the dark of night, it swooped in to lay waste to the Royal Tournament.

I did the illustrations for Theo Paxstone at the end, when I was burnt out on editing and re-editing and getting help with editing and then editing some more.

I was running on fumes.

That's one of the reasons I went for a rough, light, vaguely scribbly style. Some of them turned out well, some not so much.

This one I rather like.

Shoreline of North America 77 million years ago

map of north america submerged

Looks like I didn't get the elevations right for Theo Paxstone. I had more of the Midwest submerged, and islands to the West of Palachia.

Laramidia... what a wonderful name for the Western continent.

Fascinating to see the Western Interior Seaway, too.
